One of 2008’s biggest documentary films is about to be unleashed onto screens Worldwide. SALUTE is a film by Matt Norman, the nephew of 200m Silver Medalist Peter Norman who was involved in one of the most powerful moments in Olympic history where Tommie Smith and John Carlos gave their Black Power Salute at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. Being released through Paramount Pictures and Transmission films in Australia on the 24th of July 2008, and then around the world shortly after Salute promises to be a wake up to what’s happening today especially with the 2008 Beijing Olympics just around the corner.

Moving on… with OnacloV in this documentary making course… Still have to research more for what I’d like my subject to be. I wonder if I’d be allowed to film on the Red Dust Tour?? Anyway… so much more to be done. Brain storms to come!
Here’s the course website: http://web.arch.usyd.edu.au/%7Eonaclov/teachings/dvdp.xml
I’m here waiting for our final render.. I ‘m excited about the outcome of the film and watching it with audio made a massive difference. I think it comes across as a little freaky in the library scene… but it still works well. I think the soundtrack could work better if it were a little more dynamic with the turning points of film, but aside from that it’s good that it doesn’t detrack from the action happening so that the film could not be mistaken for a music video clip.
An hour to go for the render…. I hope it turns our alright!! :-/
Directed by Adam Adamson (I’m you’re latest fan)
Starring: William Mosely, Anna Popplewell, Ben Barnes, Peter Dinklage, Pierfrancesco Favino, Sergio Castellitto, Liam Neeson.
I didn’t like “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe” – I loved the books written by C.S. Lewis, and although they weren’t fresh in my mind, I was excited about this next installation.
I have to say…. Thumbs up to whoever the casting director was. Loved the Spaniard and his sexy accent. The children were much easier to watch this time around, and there wasn’t an crappy White Witch played by Tilda Swinton to ruin the film. (even though she makes a cameo appearance … and I don’t remember the resurection of the White Witch to be part of the books, but correct me if I’m wrong.)
So yes – good eye candy not only from the actors, but also from thr use of computer graphics…. Not overdone at all.. and the director has manages to engage with the audience for once making Narnia believable and a place you long to visit one day. The climax of the river rising was just amazing and a feast for the eyes. Another little pearl was the scene of the dancing petals and the dancing trees Lucy’s dream – just beautiful.
I felt attached to the character and to each of their struggles which is a sign that I was very much teleported into the heart of the film and carried throughout it by it’s story and magic.
My only real criticism to the film is that the slow mo could have been played down just a little bit. There was way too much slow motion action and slow motion screaming to signify dramatic moments in the story… That was probably as much cheese as there was. I think the film was an excellent children’s film – 10 times better than the first and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has read the novels as it does not disappoint.
Fantasy adventure film 8/10
How much is it worth: $13.00 ( $1 more for Prince Caspian, the hottie)

After a close call, we managed to rally (a troop) and get to centennial park to get some shots for the montage.
Originally, we had planned to shoot in various locations but in the end we had to settle for plan B, which sort of worked out better in the end. We started of tentatively, but by the end of the day, we were experimenting with camera angles and filming techniques. We got some really nice, and valuable footage from today – which was a great reward especially since the day almost didn’t happen.
What is going to hurt, is capturing the footage on tuesday and wednesday. It will be tedious, because our timer restarts everytime we switch the camera off. I have to work out how to change this!!
We have pretty much all the footage. There is one shot that we have to re-do in the Unilodge, and another of the couple exiting the lecture theatre together… but aside from that, all that is left is the scene in the Main Quad – this will be shot on Tuesday afternoon, and hopefully, we will have all the footage we need for the film by wednesday night! Fingers crossed!!
